Fees and Accounts Information for your Upcoming Admission

IVF Cycle Day Surgery Fees

Your IVF Cycle fee does not include any procedures completed in our Day Surgery, and you will be provided a separate quote for the procedure. Any out-of-pocket costs will need to be paid the day before or on the day of admission directly to the Day Surgery admin team.

Private Health Insurance

You may find that your health fund does not fully cover your stay due to the type of cover you may have, and that an out of pocket balance may occur. Estimated out of pocket expenses are payable on admission.

These are estimates only and additional costs may be incurred based on your treating doctor’s findings and/or additional investigations or treatment required during your admission. You are not required to pay the portion of your account that is covered by your health fund, as we will claim these benefits from the health fund on your behalf.

Hospital Co-payment

As a 2nd Tier Hospital, you may be charged a hospital co-payment for your procedure. If you do have a payable Hospital Co-Payment you will be notified by our Administration staff and will be provided an Informed Financial Consent form prior to your surgery.

Eligibility Check

It is important to understand the costs that may be incurred during your admission, we recommend you contact our admin team so that an eligibility check with your health fund can be completed. Sometimes the information you may receive over the phone by your health fund may provide you with incorrect information.

Overseas Patients

Self insured patients are required to pay the estimated hospital account at the time of admission. These are estimates only and additional costs may be incurred based on your treating doctors findings and/or additional investigations or treatment required during your admission.

  • Patients with overseas health funds are treated as self-insured (unless the hospital has an arrangement with the fund).
  • Patients from overseas who are not insured by a contracted overseas health fund must be quoted the standard self-insured rate. They must pay up-front and recover the cost from their health fund later. On discharge, they must pay any outstanding expenses in full and must be provided with a completed claim form and hospital receipted invoice.

Getting Home

If you’ve had heavy sedation or a general anaesthetic, you won’t be permitted to leave the Unit alone. Please note the following:

  • You’ll need to arrange to be picked up and organise a responsible adult to be present with you for the first night you are home following general anaesthesia.
  • Staff will contact the person who is picking you up when you’re fit to go home.
  • Transportation home by taxi is not permitted without a responsible adult who accepts responsibility to take you home.
  • For your own comfort and safety, you shouldn’t drink any alcoholic beverage for at least 24 hours after discharge.
  • After general anaesthetic, patients aren’t permitted to drive any motor vehicle, operate machinery or make any important decisions for at least 24 hours.

Special arrangements can be made to assist DVA patients to get you home safely after your hospital stay.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs

Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) patients will have their account directly sent to the DVA for payment.

Workers Compensation

Workers Compensation patients need to ensure their admission has been approved by the appropriate Insurance Company prior to admission. Payment for additional costs based on your treating doctors findings and/or additional investigations or treatment required during your admission not covered by your workers compensation claim will be invoiced to you directly for payment.

Superannuation

If you have applied to use your Superannuation to cover your surgery, you will need to provide evidence from your Superannuation fund of the approval and payment. Payment to the hospital is required prior to your surgery date.

Other Charges

After you leave hospital, you may receive accounts for other charges incurred during your stay that are not the responsibility of the hospital. They are therefore charged separately, and may include fees relating to:

  • Your treating doctor
  • Pathology
  • Radiology
  • Pharmacy
  • Allied health care providers (Physiotherapist, occupational health, etc.)
  • Anaesthetist
  • Surgical Assistant
  • Other items such as equipment used during your procedure, prosthetics, medications, consumables not covered by your health fund

We recommend you check your level of coverage with your individual health fund prior to your admission to hospital and ensure your understanding of any excess payments and exclusions.

Weekend and Public Holiday Admissions

If you are booked for a procedure with us on a Public Holiday or weekend you may be contacted to pay your account prior to your admission.

Payment Methods

We accept Mastercard, Visa, Bank Transfer or EFTPOS. Please note that all credit card transactions may incur a surcharge.

Important note: If paying via bank Transfer you will be required to submit payment prior to your procedure. Please speak with our Admin team for more information.

Informed Financial Consent

It is our hospital policy that all patients are fully informed of potential costs and provide their informed financial consent before Admission, to reduce the risk of loss of income due to patients not paying their expenses.

You will receive your Informed Financial Consent via email upon confirmation of your admission to our facility prior to your procedure.
